Queensland politics: Deb Frecklington to stand down as Liberal National Party leader, after election defeat

A former Queensland premier says the LNP is in need of a leadership spill following a resounding election loss. Campbell Newman told Sky News, Deb Frecklington should have declared the party room move in her concession speech rather than promise to continue as their leader. “As to what should happen now going forward … there should be a spill,” Mr Newman said. “It was not right or proper for Deb Frecklington to say … ‘I will continue’. “She should have said ‘there will be a leadership spill, but I want to continue to lead this party, I’m putting my hand up, I’m the best person.” A former Queensland premier says the LNP is in need of a leadership spill following a resounding election loss.
