A tropical cyclone forecast to reach category two has developed off the coast of Far North Queensland and is expected to make landfall in the early hours of Monday morning. The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting Tropical Cyclone Kimi could reach category two as it crosses the coast, and has issued a warning for areas including Cooktown, Port Douglas, Cairns, and Innisfail. Destructive winds, heavy rainfall and abnormally high tides are likely from Sunday night onwards as the BOM advises residents to enact their severe weather plan.
